The House

Ember, Sky and the Art of Layering

Why we sort fragrance by character rather than gender, and how to wear Ember and Sky together.

Beyond men's and women's

The first thing people often ask about a fragrance is whether it is for men or women. That division is a marketing convention, roughly a century old, and says little about how a fragrance actually smells.

We sort ours by character instead. Is it Ember, intimate and close, or Sky, open and at ease?

Ember and Sky

Ember is the intimate side of the house: spice, resin, smoke, leather, oud. Sensual and personal, these are scents for evenings and for the people near you.

Sky is the relaxed side: orris, cool woods, crisp aromatics, mineral notes. Airy and composed, they sit easily through a working day.

Wearing them together

Every Ember Sky fragrance is built to layer. A simple way to begin: wear a Sky in the morning, then add an Ember over it in the evening, on the same points. They are composed to meet, so the result is a new scent rather than two competing ones.

Try Northern Flare by day with Midnight Ember after dark, or Indigo Veil beneath Gilded Hour. Dusk Horizon sits between the two natures and works with almost anything.

Finding your own

Most people lean toward one nature without realizing it. Start there, and wear it alone until you know it well.

Then layer in the other. The pairing you settle on will be yours alone, and that is often where the best discoveries are.
