Choosing a Fragrance as a Gift
How to choose for someone else without guessing, and what to give when you are not sure.

Start with what they already wear
The best clue is the fragrance they already love. Ask what they wear, or look at what is on their shelf. Notes travel well: someone who loves a smoky, resinous scent will likely enjoy another, even from a different house.
If they wear nothing at all, think about how they dress and where they spend their time. Someone in soft knits and quiet rooms may lean toward warmth. Someone who is always outdoors may prefer something cool and open.
Ember or Sky
We sort our fragrances by nature rather than by gender, which makes choosing simpler. Ember is intimate and warm: spice, resin, smoke. Sky is airy and relaxed: orris, cool woods, crisp aromatics.
If you are unsure, the middle of the scale is the safest place to start. Dusk Horizon, with bergamot, sea salt and soft amber, sits between the two.
When you are not sure
Fragrance is personal, and the safest gift is often the chance to choose. The Discovery Set holds every Ember Sky extrait in miniature, and its full cost is credited toward the bottle they choose.
A digital gift card does the same in a different form. You can also add a message at checkout; we handwrite it for physical gifts and include it in the email for gift cards.
